I had to leave work early today due to my active IBS. It was too late to take medicine, and I couldn’t anyway because I’m saving it up for a weekend of driving and camping at the lake. This is the type of fun game you get to play when you have an unpredictable illness. Anyway, I came home, got sick, got better and now here I am bringing you the latest:
-I’ve been given the wonderful opportunity to try a dietary supplement called Align, from the makers of Metamucil®. Align contains a probiotic that is clinically proven to maintain and support a balanced digestive system. Check out the Align website at www.AlignGI.com to learn more. I will update you how it’s been going for me in a few more weeks.
-In the world of IBS awareness, I’ve just been made aware that there is a virtual health fair being put on by Revolution Health. This is no ordinary health fair, people! IBS Self Help and Support Group is a partner hosting a “booth” with lots of helpful information on Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but that’s not the best part. The best part is this: For every visitor to their booth, Revolution Health will make a donation to a partner up to $10,000! That means more $$$ to help spread awareness and keep one of the largest IBS support group sites going. So please check it out and while you’re there, sign up to become a member!
-If you’ve read my interview with Tim Phelan, you know he’s an expert on living with IBS and writing about it. I had many conversations with Tim over the last couple of months about his book and his life, all of which reminded me that I am NOT alone. I highly suggest you go to Tim’s blog and listen to the recent interview he did for Writers in the Sky. It’s so great to hear someone talk so openly about this subject and it’s even better to know how much he can relate. Don’t miss it!
-Who has IBS and isn’t afraid to talk about it? (Besides me, of course)That would famous motocross legend Ricky Carmichael. A good friend of mine reminded me about Ricky’s struggle with IBS and I found a recent article where he mentions battling with IBS during a race. It’s hard enough sitting at home and having an “attack”. I can’t imagine trying to ride a motorcycle while enduring that pain. YOU GO, RICKY! (not in your pants though)
That’s all for now, folks! So much to do, so many toilets to visit. More to come later on the latest book I’m reading and the newest therapy I’m trying. It’s cool stuff you won’t want to miss!
-Nicole

I know the Align update won’t be for a couple of weeks, but I’m thinking of getting some. Any preliminary results you can share?
